All Alone, Yet Full of Hope

At 8:36 pm on a December evening, The Lost Dogs’ Home received an urgent call from a Council Ranger. Someone had found a big, beautiful Kangal shepherd dog, affectionately known ‘Mr Tinky Winky,’ wandering the streets, lost and alone.

Our Animal Ambulance Driver Kylie sprang into action, hitting the road to rescue Mr Tinky Winky and bring him to the warmth and safety of our shelter. Here, he was greeted with nourishing food, fresh water, and a cozy bed to rest his weary body. Our dedicated vets and vet nurses made sure he wasn’t suffering from any immediate medical concerns.

It’s because of compassionate animal lovers like you that we can provide this critical care and a chance for a brighter future.

“Here I am in front of the Animal Ambulances. One of these cars picked me up when I was scared and alone on the streets and brought me to the Home.”

“No one knows exactly what I went through before coming to the Home. But you can see my eyes tell a story of heartbreak. I’m so relieved to be safe at last.”

“Even gentle giants like me feel fear and loneliness. But here I am relaxing in my loving foster carer’s home. I get lots of cuddles and I feel so loved!”

Lifeline in the Dark

Because of the Home’s vital partnership with local councils, that Council Ranger was able to call us after-hours to request our Animal Ambulance service. This service, a lifeline for animals like Mr Tinky Winky, operates 24/7 with up to five ambulances responding to emergency call-outs.

Last year alone, our Animal Ambulances rescued more than 2,600 animals in response to call-outs from our council partners—an incredible nine animals every single day. And almost all of these life-saving missions happen after hours, when fear and loneliness set in for abandoned pets.

Operating such an extensive, round-the-clock service comes at a cost. But how can we give up when gentle giants like Mr Tinky Winky are out there, frightened and alone?

Your support makes all the difference. Please donate today to help fund emergency services like our Animal Ambulances for more animals like Mr Tinky Winky.
